In November, 2002, my daughter Elizabeth died of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome. She was at daycare. She was sleeping on an adult bed, surrounded in pillows and blankets. Following her death, I became very involved with the Iowa SIDS Foundation. I have done community and professional education, fundraising, and served as president of their board for 6 years. I have always been very passionate about promoting safe sleep. Because there is no cause or prevention for SIDS, all we know is how to reduce risks. The #1 way to reduce that risk is to provide a safe sleeping environment.
Recently, i have decided to join forces with Genesis Medical Center and start a "sleep sack project". It is my hope that, with the funds raised for this project, each baby born at Genesis can leave the hospital with a sleep sack for their baby. Sleep sacks promote safe sleeping by getting extra blankets out of the crib.
I have chosen the Sleep Sack Project at Genesis Medical Center as my Charity of Choice.
Every dollar helps and I appreciate your generosity and support.
