You know me, always swimming, right? Well, hopefully you also know that I’m always looking for a way to Give Back.
In 2013, I started swimming and racing as a part of the LIVE UNCOMMON Race Team and my efforts benefit theplace2be and the LIVE UNCOMMON Scholarship fund!
Since I started my LU Race Team journey, I have been helped by so many generous Family and Friends - and have raised over $2,500 already - thank you! Some of that money has been disbursed already to thePlace2be in their time of need - they issued a call for help when their microwave / stove became non-functioning. We purchased an awesome, durable appliance for them - thank you again!
I strongly believe in both of these non-profit charities – theplace2be and LIVE UNCOMMON -- and so swimming and racing for their causes is highly motivating and rewarding.
Both charities do so much good for causes very personal to me.
I chose theplace2be as my Charity of Choice because I know that a lot of kids in its area really need help and this charity doesn't have enough money to help them. When I see homeless kids on the street I feel so badly for them, especially when it's winter, and I know theplace2be can help them and provides a place for them. Along with that, in middle school one of my sister's friends was living in her car and didn't tell anyone, and I think that if theplace2be gets enough support that they can save people like her. Theplace2be is a homeless shelter for area youth and it is located in downtown Rock Island.
LIVE UNCOMMON does a lot of good stuff locally, like awarding lots of scholarship monies, raising awareness and funds for a diversity of charities, and inspiring and celebrating people like me who reach higher, dream bigger, make a difference by Giving Back.
So now you know that in 2013 I’m hitting the pool for a reason far bigger than ever before. I’m swimming for a bigger purpose than my own fitness and even my own sense of accomplishment. I am swimming to change the World. Yep, that’s what I said – I am swimming to change the World.
I have recently raised my personal goal to $5,000. It would mean a lot to me if you would help me help theplace2be and all those who need one – a safe place to be!
Literally every penny counts, so please know that I appreciate whatever you can do!
Again, thank you very much and see you on the pool deck!
