I started running road races my senior year of high school with my mom. I have ran hundreds of 5K and 10K, 25 ½ marathons and 6 marathons with two of them being the Boston Marathon. In November, I will be competing in the NYC marathon. My husband and I have completed a team triathlon together.Running is what defines me as a person. It’s what I draw my motivation from personally and professionally.( I’m a human resource assistant for RK Dixon in Davenport, IA.)It is such an honor to be able to be a part of the LU race team. My 2013 racing year will be in honor of a little boy who four Christmas’s ago stole my heart when he surprised everyone and sat on my lap and shared a piece of red velvet cake with me. Cameron, who is now 9, has autism. He is the sweetest boy, my eyes light up when he can now say my name and will willingly give me hugs. (Ok I admit sometimes they are bribed with jelly beans but that is our little secret?)I will be raising money in Cameron’s name that will help fund research for Autisms.Never Giving Up and Always giving back with be my mantra for 2013.Rhonda Reed Gebel
